As a Yard Supervisor at Okon Recycling, a fourth-generation family-owned full-service metal recycling company, your primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the yard while maintaining a focus on safety and customer satisfaction. You will be tasked with assisting customers in locating the appropriate area for unloading their materials, addressing any issues or complaints they may have, and ensuring their overall experience is positive. Collaboration with management is essential to ensure that employees are deployed effectively, completing tasks in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Assistance: Guide customers to the designated unloading areas, provide assistance as needed, and address any concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
• Team Coordination: Work closely with management to ensure that employees are assigned tasks according to priorities and deadlines, and that they are in the right place at the right time.
• Maintenance Oversight: Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and execute a maintenance schedule, ensuring that equipment downtime is minimized and repairs are conducted promptly. Prioritize maintenance tasks in coordination with the mechanic to ensure efficient operation of equipment.
• Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and procedures to minimize accidents and ensure a safe working environment for employees and customers alike.
• Yard Flow Management: Monitor the flow of materials and vehicles within the yard to prevent congestion and delays, optimizing efficiency and throughput.

Qualifications:

• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to effectively coordinate and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of basic maintenance procedures and equipment operation preferred.
• Experience in a supervisory role or similar capacity is preferred.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to regulations.
• Bilingual preferred.
