**Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) - Night Shift**
**Job Description:**
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team for a 19-week winter contract with the possibility of extension. This position will operate on a night shift schedule, working 3 shifts of 12 hours per week, from 19:30 to 08:00.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the emergency department, handling a variety of conditions including chest pain, stroke, sepsis, cardiac arrest, trauma, and respiratory illnesses.
- Maintain a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4, ensuring safe and effective care for each patient.
- Utilize comprehensive nursing skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, and Rapid Response Teams, for optimal patient outcomes.
- Perform essential emergency procedures such as intubation, chest tube management, and central line care.
- Document patient care and interventions using the Epic charting system.
**Qualifications:**
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Emergency Room setting required; 4-5 years preferred.
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, CPI, NIH, TNCC.
- Experience with Epic charting system is necessary.
- Previous charge nurse experience is preferred.
- Must possess a valid MD or Compact License at the time of submission.
**Unit Information:**
- Daily census: Approximately 140 patients.
- Total beds in the unit: 46.
- Patient age groups include neonates, infants, children, adults, and geriatrics.
- The facility supports a diverse patient population and offers specialized emergency services.
**Scheduling Details:**
- Rotation includes every other weekend.
- Pre-approved time off of up to 7 days is allowed, with specific guidelines for scheduling.
- Candidates must be comfortable with floating to different areas of the hospital as needed.
**Compliance Requirements:**
- All travelers are required to complete compliance documents within 5 days prior to the start of the assignment.
- Must provide two professional references: one from a supervisor/manager and one from a charge RN.
