Paxton Media Group is seeking a full-time news reporter for The La Porte County Herald-Dispatch in Michigan City, Indiana. This reporter will cover Michigan City government, community news and events, crime and courts, breaking news and other assigned stories. Prospective candidates should have excellent writing and interviewing skills, some newswriting experience, and good people skills. Photography experience is a definite plus. The position will report to the managing editor and must have basic knowledge of word processing systems, digital photography, and social media. Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in journalism or equivalent experience. At least one year experience in journalism preferred. Familiarity with social media and digital photography. Flexibility to multi-task and work on several stories simultaneously. Ability to consistently meet deadlines. A knowledge of Michigan City and La Porte County, its government and schools is helpful. This job requires some evening and weekend shifts; a vehicle with up-to-date insurance; and a clean driving record.
