If so, we want you to join our team as a full-time Class A Local Truck Driver We are looking for an experienced Class A truck driver to serve our customers in a safe and timely manner. JOB SUMMARY The Class A CDL City Driver position is responsible for operating a day cab tractor and 53' trailers to perform pickup and deliveries across Northeast Ohio. This position needs to pick up contracted freight, loaded freight, unload freight and perform drop and hook and bumping a dock, and completing appropriate paperwork. The Class A CDL City Driver position will report into the City Operations Manager. It will usually operate under standard business hours with the opportunity to be home every night. RESPONSIBILITIES •Transport finished goods and raw materials in day cab tractors and 53' trailers to and from manufacturing plants, retail and distribution centers, or warehouse locations within Northeast Ohio •Collect and verify delivery instructions from City Operations Manager •Load freight and maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions •Perform daily inspections & recognize and report defects, accidents or violations to City Operations and/or Safety Department •Effectively follow and comply with all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Ohio regulations. •Comply with all truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, break periods etc.) as well as with company policies and procedures Be respectful and effectively be the face of Five Star Trucking with the end client WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS •Position will operate primarily out of a day cab tractor trailer. Will require driving and sitting for long periods of time at work. •Must be able to perform all physical requirements as a truck driver, which includes, but is not limited to: o Ability to lift up to 50lbs o Ability to effectively move tandems in the trailer o Ability to drop and hook the trailer o Ability to get in and out of truck cab safely •Possess appropriate vision (with or without corrective lenses) to effectively operate vehicle and perform successful deliveries •Ability to communicate effectively using appropriate truck communication technology •All other physical duties required to successfully perform the role of a Class A CDL City Driver WORK SCHEDULE & TRAVEL Regular schedule 8:00AM-4:30PM, Monday - Friday. However, position will require schedule flexibility relative to start or end times based on business needs. May need to work weekends as needed. Potential to work overtime for duties extending outside of normal work hours. Expectation will be away almost entire day from the facility. Will not require overnights. COMPENSATION This will be an hourly paid position. It is eligible for overtime for all hours worked over 40 hours in a week. Various benefits available. May be eligible for company quarterly bonus contingent on both overall company performance and meeting overall business goals and targets. Requirements •Possession of a Valid, Active Class A Driver's License •2+ years of verifiable experience as a truck driver •Candidate must meet the following driving requirements o No DUI violations o No moving violations in past 12 months o No more than one (1) preventable accident in 36 months o No more than one (1) major moving violation in past 36 months •Have working knowledge of applicable Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) truck driving rules and regulations •Capable of completing pre and post trip vehicle inspections for mechanical items and safety •Should exhibit the qualities and behaviors of being a team player, willingness to work with others, professionalism and presenting a positive attitude •Demonstration of adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.) •Must be able to operate Electronic Logging Device (ELD) compliant tractors and equipment •Ability to leverage or learn and apply computer skills to complete required Salesforce tasks and duties •Willing to submit to and pass DOT Physical, DOT Drug Screen and Background Check •Must provide employment recommendations •Ability to safely and efficiently load and unload trucks for palletized freight using hand truck/forklift/tow motor is preferred •Possess a Hazmat certification or be able to apply for a Hazmat certification Salary Description $20-$24 an Hour Five Star Trucking, Inc.
