Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who is proficient in HVAC design, problem-solving, and drawing production. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, drafting, and solving complex HVAC challenges while ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and constructible solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce complete HVAC drawing packages utilizing the Autodesk software suite, including floor plans, details, schedules, and specifications in a design-build format.
  • Lead drafting efforts and further develop existing drafting templates and tools.
  • Design HVAC systems for a variety of healthcare, data center, commercial, and industrial projects, utilizing your manager for assistance and review.
  • Analyze and provide solutions for HVAC system challenges that arise within existing buildings. Work closely with project sales reps in developing these HVAC solutions.
  • Perform building load calculations, associated equipment selections, ductwork and piping layout design.
  • Engage with various Haynes team members, including technicians and control (BAS) engineers, to provide fully coordinated solutions.
  • Work closely with the Haynes estimating team to review solutions for complete scope identification and constructability.
  • Collaborate with 3rd party engineering disciplines to deliver high-quality design packages.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, ASHRAE standards, and industry best practices.
  • Provide support during the construction phase by reviewing submittals and providing the projects team with technical support during the installation.
  • Work closely with your manager for guidance, assistance, and review, while taking ownership of your engineering products.
  • Attend project/ client meetings with some assistance.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in HVAC design and drafting.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and relevant HVAC load calculation software.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC principles, load calculations, equipment selection, and system design.
  • Understands construction plan documentation including architectural, structural, and MEP systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant building codes and ASHRAE standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills for coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

COMPENSATION: $80,000-$90,000 annually
