Job Description

Alsum Farms & Produce Inc., a grower, packer, and shipper of potatoes & onions located in Friesland, WI is looking for a full-time Fabrication Technician! The Fabrication Technician is responsible for modifying, repairing, and improving equipment to enhance operational efficiency. This role involves collaboration with the Maintenance Manager and Engineers on projects, requiring a hands-on approach and a willingness to lead by example.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with the Maintenance Manager on projects to modify equipment for improved efficiency
• Assist Engineers with assigned projects as needed
• Perform repairs and modifications on machinery, equipment, and infrastructure, including doors, floors, and lighting
• Operate milling machines, perform welding (MIG and ARC), and mount motors and shafts
• Use precision tools such as micrometers and calipers with proficiency in both English and Metric measurement systems
• Program and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and work with conveyor components, motors, and forklifts
• Maintain an organized and safe work environment
• Collaborate with team members, including Maintenance Technicians, on assigned tasks
• Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned

Education and Experience:

• Some vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience, required.

Job Details:

Job Type: Regular Full-Time

Job Schedule: Monday through Friday; 7:30am to 4:00pm

Work Location: Friesland, WI

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining safety and quality standards
• Proficient in welding (MIG and ARC) and machining operations
• Ability to program and troubleshoot VFDs
• Ability to utilize Human Resource Information System (HRIS) software

Physical and Environmental Demands:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking
• Ability to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to complete tasks
• Must be able to lift or move items over 75 pounds
• Work performed in a loud environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts
• Must be mobile and able to fit under various machinery to perform repairs
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Ability to work in varying temperature conditions
