Overview: Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a
Wound Ostomy Registered Nurse for a part time, day shift position in Charlottesville, VA. This position is 16 hours per week.
The Wound Ostomy RN can expect to see up to 11 patients per shift across the hospital and will be a resource for education for new ostomy patients. The schedule is primarily Monday to Friday, day shift.
For Candidates not holding a WOCN certification, an additional shift per week will be required for training. Candidates will be required to enroll in a WOCN certification course upon hire.
The Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurse (WOCN) is a specialized healthcare professional responsible for providing expert care to patients with complex wounds, ostomies, and continence issues. The WOCN should have specialized training and certification, as well as excellent communication, critical thinking, and clinical skills. This position is vital for improving patient outcomes, enhancing comfort, and promoting independence in individuals facing complex care challenges.

Education - BSN- Bachelor of Science Nursing (Required)
Certification - BLS within 90 days of hire Required
- Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse Preferred. Those not certified will require enrollment into a WOCN course upon hire.
- Registered nursing license required
Experience - 3 years of Nursing experience Required
- previous wound care experience preferred
- complex wound care preferred
- Acute care nursing experience preferred
