Position Introduction/Key Duties

Cimarron is seeking skilled Passive Thermal Engineers to support the Boeing CST-100 Starliner program. The selected candidates for this opportunity can be located in Houston, TX or at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in thermal analysis and modeling, specifically in spacecraft thermal systems. This role involves working with heat dissipation mechanisms, including heaters and cold plates, to ensure proper thermal management of spacecraft and electronic units.

This position is expected to last for at least 6 months, but does have the possibility of an extension. This position is a full-time/benefited (i.e. PTO, 401(k), insurance) position with Cimarron.

Key Duties:
  • Conduct thermal analysis and develop thermal models for units and system-level designs.
  • Analyze heat dissipation from spacecraft heaters and design cold plates for electronic unit cooling.
  • Support the integration of thermal systems in the Boeing CST-100 Starliner program.
  • Perform thermal simulations and provide recommendations to optimize thermal performance.
  • Work closely with other engineering teams to ensure seamless thermal integration within spacecraft systems.
  • Document analysis and findings.
  • Support the development of thermal testing procedures.

Required/Desired Skills, Experience, and Education

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and random drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
  • 3 or more years of experience.
  • Familiarity with temperature management solutions such as heaters, heat pipes, cold plates, and other passive thermal systems.
  • Knowledge of thermal simulation software (e.g., SINDA/FLUINT, Thermal Desktop, or equivalent tools).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to perform detailed thermal calculations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • 5 or more years of experience,
  • Proven experience in thermal modeling and analysis, particularly in space systems or spacecraft.
  • Experience supporting spacecraft programs, particularly with Boeing or similar aerospace companies.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft thermal control systems and thermal protection materials.
  • Experience with system-level thermal analysis and optimization.
