At Weyerhaeuser, interns receive extensive mentoring and have hands-on work experiences to build the foundations for a professional career. Many of our interns return as full-time employees post-graduation, and a number of our senior leaders started their careers as interns at Weyerhaeuser.
Background: A Quality (Technical) Intern is assigned to our site for a predetermined time on a full-time temporary basis. During that period, the Intern receives a comprehensive orientation to Weyerhaeuser and its OSB business, performs assignments in most areas of the mill and receives training as determined by site mentors. Successful completion of the program may lead to a full-time regular position within the OSB Business.
Key Functions :
The individual will learn to perform the quality control functions of the Technical Team in the Weyerhaeuser OSB mill in Grayling, Michigan. They will have the opportunity to be involved in process improvement projects. This position is an opportunity to develop valuable hands-on operations experience. It will involve some vacation coverage and requires working on shifts while supporting an operations team. The individual will be fully involved in a high-performance self-directed work system.
Qualifications - Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Wood Science or other related disciplines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with a technical writing capability
- Must commit to a 2-3 month internship this fall
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment
- Well developed problem solving and analytical skills
- High level of initiative and motivation
- Excellent planning and organizational skills
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts
