Overview Public Humanities Research Fellow, Bryn Mawr College Histories, Office of the President. The Office seeks a scholar or journalist with expertise in post-nineteenth century American collegiate life, women’s/gender history, African-American history and/or intersectional histories, and digital scholarship to partner with the President and the Bryn Mawr College community on initiatives related to the College’s history and its place in higher education today. Drawing on work from Who Built Bryn Mawr, Art Remediating Campus Histories (ARCH), and related initiatives, the researcher will build a historical timeline, identify themes through archival research, and help integrate historical storytelling into public-facing venues, communications, and marketing. Responsibilities Build a comprehensive historical timeline of the College and develop a future research agenda, framing existing scholarship and identifying areas for further study. Identify primary historical themes through archival research and literature review to illustrate Bryn Mawr College and its graduates’ impact. Collaborate with College leadership and constituents to review and integrate historical storytelling and institutional impact into public-facing venues. Conduct targeted historical research to inform College communications and marketing, including presidential writing, on-campus materials, alumnae/i publications, and recruitment materials. Qualifications PhD or terminal degree in a related field with strong publication/writing experience. Experience creating public-facing materials in paper and digital formats. Experience with or interest in small liberal arts colleges. What we offer This is a benefits-eligible, 12-month, full-time, in-person appointment.
