Role

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of a variety of plumbing systems.
  • Install, repair and maintain domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors
  • Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings
  • Measure, cut, bend and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines
  • Select the type and size of pipe required and measure, cut, thread, bend, clamp, solvent cement or solder pipe
  • Assemble and install valves and fittings
  • Join pipe sections and secure them in position
  • Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
  • Install sinks, tubs and toilets
  • Install underground storm sanitary and water piping systems
  • Communicate job status, including changes, additions and damages
  • Follow all company policies and procedures including Byron’s Plumbing Health and Safety program
  • Required to complete Field Level Hazard Assessments regularly and correctly
  • Responsible for reporting any unsafe work practices to Supervisor
  • Responsible for mentoring and training apprentices
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Responsible for completing all required administration for the job on a tablet
  • Ability to work on-call for emergencies
  • Valid WHMIS, Fall Arrest, Aerial Work Platform and Confined Space would be an asset

  • Must be team oriented as well as work independently
  • Must be available for on-call rotation
  • Must be able to lift heavy materials, tools and equipment when required.
