The St. Luke’s Physician provides medical services in the general care and treatment of patients in both practice and hospital settings. Physician provides comprehensive medical services for patients on a continuing basis. Physician will provide high quality, cost effective medical care. This individual will also participate in quality, patient satisfaction and performance improvement initiatives. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs history and physical examination of all patients seen. Provide cost-effective, high-quality care based on best practice evidenced based medicine. Make best efforts to adhere to standardized orders and practice guidelines that have been approved by the medical staff. Demonstrates competency in the assessment, range or treatment, knowledge of growth and development and communication appropriate to the age of the patient treated. Provide regular, timely, and appropriate communication with referring physicians, patients and their families. Participates in education of patients and their families. Evaluates and implements patient health care needs. Performs routine exams and obtains patient histories. Manages patient treatment program based on assessment of needs. Initiates treatment via prescriptions, diagnostic tests, exams and procedures. Reviews lab results and plans actions according to results. Performs routine health maintenance activities for new and established patients. Coordinates patient care and makes referrals to physicians, nurses, psychologists, nutritionists, et cetera, as needed. Collaborates and communicates with other professionals, nurses, physicians, and outside agencies regarding patient care. Coordinates patient care and family counseling with public and mental health agencies as appropriate. Teaches wellness habits and educates patients on prevention of potential health problems or method of dealing with present problems. Provides information and materials relating to patient health care needs. Develops educational programs for medical and/or nursing students and the general public, upon request. Maintains knowledge of current medical practices and skills.
