Job Description

Operations Manager - Dog Walking & Pet Sitting Business

Are you looking for a career where you can develop real leadership and business management skills while working with pets and a passionate team? At MixyPaws, we provide premium dog walking and pet sitting services across Manhattan, and we’re looking for a motivated Operations Manager to help lead our team of existing managers.

This role is perfect for someone who wants hands-on experience in managing a business unit. You’ll develop skills in customer service, employee management, scheduling/logistics, and business operations—all while working in a rewarding industry that helps pets live happier lives.

You’ll gain experience in:

  • Leadership & Team Management – Lead and support a team of dog walkers, ensuring excellent service.
  • Customer Service & Relationship Building – Work closely with pet owners to deliver a top-tier experience.
  • Operations & Logistics – Manage daily schedules, optimize routes, and problem-solve on the fly.
  • Employee Development – Train and mentor new and existing team members, fostering a great culture.

This is more than just a management job—it’s a career-building role where you’ll learn how to run your own business unit, make key decisions, and see the direct impact of your leadership.

Responsibilities:

1. Ensure Exceptional Pet Care Services:

  • Oversee daily scheduling, schedule optimization and coordination to ensure efficient and timely services.
  • Maintain a high level of client satisfaction by communicating with clients regularly to solicit feedback, solve ad hoc requests, and when needed, resolve complaints to 100% client satisfaction.
  • Provide spot walking coverage, on occasion, to maintain service continuity.

2. Team Development and Management:

  • Manage a team of ~15 dog walkers, fostering a culture of excellence in pet care.
  • Coordinate structured training programs for new dog walkers, setting clear job expectations and cultivating a positive team culture.
  • Work with field managers by providing ongoing guidance and support as they meet day-to-day challenges.
  • Foster staff retention and engagement through effective communication, addressing concerns, providing timely feedback, and promoting a positive work environment.
  • Assist with recruitment, interviews, onboarding, and terminations when needed.

3. Business Operations Support:

  • Coordinate new client introductory meetings and onboarding.
  • Client Relations: Improve relationships, explain services, answer questions, and resolve any client concerns.
  • Assist the General Manager with interesting projects from time to time.

This is a full-time role onsite in Midtown Manhattan, generally Monday-Friday, with some flexibility required for occasional weekend or holiday coverage, as needed.

Salary: $44,000 - $50,000 per year

Benefits:

  • Paid Time Off: 80 Hours Annually
  • Monthly $175 Healthcare Contribution
  • Additional Compensation Opportunities
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Employee Discount on Pet Care Services
  • Client and Employee Referral Bonuses
