Nursing Tenure Track Faculty

Olympic College seeks to fill a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Nursing. The faculty member's responsibility is to provide classroom, lab, and clinical instruction for the Nursing Programs.


Nursing Faculty supervise and facilitate learning for students in a variety of clinical agencies, such as acute care, long term facilities and in community-based agencies. Responsibilities include promoting positive agency relationships and a strong commitment to collegiality, i.e., team collaboration with community partners, administrators, administrative staff, students, and faculty.

Essential Functions


  • Prepare and teach theoretical and clinical content across the lifespan reflective of the philosophy and conceptual framework of the nursing programs.
  • Prepare all classroom materials based on the approved course outlines, syllabi, and adult learning theory.
  • Schedule a minimum of five (5) office hours a week for student advising.
  • Determine appropriate clinical assignments for nursing students based on leveling.
  • Provide clinical supervision and evaluation.
  • Document students' progress; determine, in collaboration with the student, a plan for achieving success.
  • Attend clinical orientation and faculty meetings.
  • Participate in theory and clinical course evaluation identifying both strengths and areas for development.
  • Collaborate promptly with the Nurse Administrator(s) and course coordinator(s) regarding student and/or course issues.
  • Keep current in program policy, guidelines, and procedure changes.
  • Design, plan, sequence, and evaluate program curricula in collaboration with members of the Curriculum and Evaluation Committee (ECC).
  • Participate in ongoing nursing program academic assessment and evaluation processes.
  • Participate in mentoring and academic advising of nursing program students.
  • Facilitate scholarly activities.
  • Establish and maintain relations with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in the maintenance of accreditation standards for Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA), Accreditation Commission of Education in Nursing (ACEN), and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), International Nursing Association of Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL), as well as regulatory requirements of the Washington State's Board of Nursing (WA-BON).
  • Facilitate an interactive learning environment for students in nursing programs.
  • Engage with colleagues and participate in department, division, and college activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and the Administrator(s) in maintaining current standards of Nursing Education.
  • Participate in the integration of simulation into theory and clinical courses.
  • Demonstrate teaching and learning principles, behaviors, and attitudes that promote inclusivity, diversity, and social justice.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in nursing or a related field is required.
  • Current unencumbered RN license in WA State required or ability to obtain WA RN licensure prior to start of employment.
  • Intermediate-level computer competency, including Microsoft Office applications.
Desired Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Nursing or Education.
  • Experience working in a community college setting.
  • Experience teaching hybrid/online courses.
  • Quality Matters Online Teaching Certification or equivalency.
  • Experience in Learning Management Systems, e.g., Canvas.
  • Experience in curriculum development, program evaluation, and accreditation (ACEN or CCNE).
  • Previous teaching experience in a nursing program with documented excellence.
  • Experience in facilitating healthcare simulation debriefing.

Requirements upon hire:
  • Submit documentation to satisfy clinical agency requirements, including but not limited to background check, proof of immunizations, American Heart Association BLS Provider credential, and results of drug screening as required by clinical partners.

This is a full-time exempt position scheduled to work Monday through Friday.
