Nonferrous Recovery Manager (NFRM)

The NF Recovery Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager and oversees the collection, processing, and treatment of Auto Shredder Residue before landfill disposal. This role ensures compliance with state regulations, optimizes nonferrous metal recovery, and manages fluff stockpiling processes. The NFRM collaborates with Maintenance, Shredder, Terminal Operations, Environmental, Safety, and Commercial teams to enhance operational efficiency. Additionally, the NFRM assigns daily duties to pickers/cleaners and fosters a safe and regulatory-compliant work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental, Health & Safety

• Ensure safe work practices and compliance with OSHA and corporate safety policies.
• Develop Health & Safety Standard Operating Procedures with the Regional Safety Engineer(s).
• Provide safety training, maintain employee records, and attend Safety Committee meetings.

Operations & Performance Optimization

• Lead JP department staff across multiple shifts, ensuring efficient production with minimal overtime.
• Monitor technological advancements in NF metal and plastic separation for process improvement.
• Manage major projects, including workforce planning, equipment scheduling, and downtime reduction.

Equipment & Maintenance

• Oversee JP plant operations, ensuring proper use and maintenance of equipment.
• Procure necessary chemicals, fly ash, cement pumps, and parts for plant efficiency.
• Coordinate major maintenance and project timelines to minimize downtime.

Inventory & Quality Control

• Ensure proper processing and storage of finished goods in line with internal controls.
• Identify and address off-grade materials before shipment to prevent quality issues and claims.
• Participate in Joint Products Operations Committee and support operational groups.

Financial Management & Reporting

• Track and analyze daily production reports to optimize throughput, reduce costs, and increase profitability.
• Drive metal recovery improvements through continuous process analysis.

Administrative & Personnel Management

• Maintain an effective staffing strategy for both exempt and hourly employees.
• Ensure compliance with HR policies and union contracts in supervisory practices.
• Conduct performance reviews, recruit personnel, and assist HR in job description development.
