Medical Receptionist - Ambulatory Float Pool

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Medical Receptionist to join our Ambulatory Float Pool. In this dynamic role, you will provide essential support across multiple clinics by managing patient check-ins and registration. You’ll float between primary medicine ambulatory clinics and specialty care clinics, with assignments based on priority needs. Schedules are provided a week in advance, and flexibility is key, as you may be asked to take on various duties depending on the clinic’s needs. To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be adaptable, willing to learn, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. A background in customer service is beneficial, as providing a welcoming and professional experience for patients is a top priority. Teamwork and the ability to contribute positively to a team-oriented environment are also crucial. This role offers variety and the opportunity to gain experience in different areas, making a flexible approach essential for success.

Location: This is a floating position with no primary location. The individual will rotate between all Nebraska Medicine satellite clinics, including 14 primary medicine ambulatory clinics and various specialty care clinics.

Schedule:

  • Days: Monday through Friday

  • Availability Required: Variable shifts between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM

  • Shift length: 8-hour shifts

  • Initial training: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (for up to 4 weeks)

  • No weekends, holidays, or evenings

Duties: Medical Receptionist - Ambulatory Float Pool

Provides the highest quality of customer service for patients and others by performing all duties in a professional and engaging manner. Serve as the first point of contact by greeting and welcoming patients and others, (in person, at the check-in desk, or via the telephone). Responsible for answering incoming calls and/or checking in / out patients per established protocols. Responsible for scheduling patient appointments and registering patients at multiple Nebraska Medicine facilities.


Required Qualifications: Medical Receptionist - Ambulatory Float Pool

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one-year post-secondary education with coursework in business, medical assistant program or nursing assistant program OR equivalent combination of education/experience in customer service or medical scheduling related capacity (one year of education equals one year of experience) required.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service to physicians, patients and other internal/external customers required.
  • Ability to work professionally with physicians, clinic staff and patients in a timely, confidential manner required.
  • Demonstrated analytical, prioritization and organizational skills required.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and dedication to team environment required.
  • Effective communication skills required.

  • Valid driver's license required.
Preferred Qualifications: Medical Receptionist - Ambulatory Float Pool

  • Experience in healthcare environment with working knowledge of medical office operations preferred.
  • College coursework in business preferred.
  • Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel preferred.
  • Depending on the position available, fluency in Spanish preferred.
