Location: Northwest Side of Chicago (Hermosa/Logan Square)

Position Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical CAD Designer to join our team. This role involves creating and maintaining 3D models, detailed drawings, and technical documentation to support product development and manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have experience with Autodesk Inventor, Vault, and PLM/PDM best practices, as well as a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and complex assemblies.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and revise detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Maintain and manage product data and engineering drawings using Autodesk Vault.
• Develop and refine complex assemblies to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturability.
• Assist in developing best practices for PLM/PDM and ECO/ECN/ECR processes.
• Create sheet metal components and flat patterns for manufacturing.
• Work with the CAD manager, engineers, production, sales, and project managers to improve product designs and resolve technical issues.
• Ensure proper dimensioning, tolerancing, and material specifications for manufacturability.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs can be efficiently produced.

Qualifications & Skills

• Associate’s degree or higher in mechanical design, drafting, or an engineering-related field.
• 2+ years of experience in CAD design and mechanical drafting.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD Mechanical required.
• Experience with Autodesk Vault or similar PLM/PDM system required.
• Experience with ECO/ECN/ECR processes is a plus.
• Experience with complex assemblies required.
• Experience creating sheet metal and flat patterns required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, while effectively organizing and prioritizing multiple projects to meet deadlines.
