Job Description

GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking a Japanese Translator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting internet searches, gathering relevant information, and translating findings from Japanese to English. This position is full-time and will serve the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Oak Ridge, TN.

Overview:

• Conduct internet searches in Japanese to gather relevant data, statistics, and information and organize it into a tabular format
• Translate online content, articles, reports, and data tables from Japanese to English with accuracy.
•  Identify credible sources and verify the accuracy and reliability of the information gathered.
• Maintain clear and organized documentation of sources, references, and translated materials.

The DOE's Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), located in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, conducts research and development to create scientific knowledge and solutions that strengthen the nation's leadership in key areas of science; increase the availability of clean, abundant energy; restore and protect the environment; and contribute to national security. COMPENSATION: GEM does not publish salary ranges on external job boards; all ranges listed are estimates made by vendors and not actual salary ranges. GEM’s offered compensation is dependent on candidates’ education, qualifications, and relevant years of experience.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be fluent in both Japanese and English.
• Experience in online data collection and verification.
• Ability to navigate Japanese websites, databases, and online resources efficiently.
• Experience translating technical or business-related content.
• Attention to detail, particularly when interpreting data, statistics, and context.
• Familiarity with research methodologies and data analysis tools is a plus.
• Bachelor’s Degree
