Job Title: IT Specialist IBM iSeries / AS400 / Infor XA (Expert)

Duration: 30 Months (Full-Time)

Location: 550 Broadway, Menands, NY 12204 (Up to 50% telecommute negotiable)

Hours Per Week: 40 Hours (8.5 hrs/day incl. unpaid 30-min lunch, MF, between 8:00AM6:00PM)

Scope of Project

The New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) requires an Expert-level consultant to provide advanced technical support and development services for the IBM iSeries (AS/400) platform supporting Corcraft Industries and interconnected NYS agency operations.

Work includes Infor XA (MAPICS), custom RPG development, system patches, OS upgrades, device provisioning, cross-team coordination, and production environment support .

The consultant will operate independently, deliver frequent status updates, and provide full documentation and knowledge transfer throughout the engagement.

The target start date is January 12, 2026 , and the engagement will span 30 months .

Responsibilities:

• Maintain, support, and troubleshoot IBM iSeries/AS400 production environments.
• Develop and modify custom RPG programs and AS/400 reports (Query/400) with Infor XA database integration.
• Apply OS upgrades, patches, and AS400 system maintenance , including COTS application updates.
• Refresh AS400 development and test environments (including full database copies).
• Perform FTP-based data transfers , cleansing, validation, and reformatting with external vendors/agencies.
• Coordinate issue resolution with ITS Enterprise teams, vendors, and agency business units.
• Configure and maintain AS400 user accounts, terminals, printers, and hardware access.
• Work with Corcraft business groups to replace custom legacy solutions with Infor XA-native functionality where possible.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge transfer materials.
• Attend meetings, deliver weekly status communications, and ensure ongoing transparency of work efforts.
• Complete annual state-mandated ITS and SLMS compliance training.

Required/Preferred Skills:

• 84+ months experience supporting IBM AS/400/iSeries systems.
• 72+ months experience with Infor XA / MAPICS ERP , modules, and data structures.
• 60+ months experience developing RPG programs interacting with Infor XA DB.
• 36+ months applying ERP patches, upgrades, and system-level maintenance.
• 84+ months writing technical documentation, flow diagrams, and SOPs.
• 72+ months working with stakeholders and translating technical details to non-technical users.
• 72+ months experience with FTP, large data transfers, cleansing, and reformatting routines.
