We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our team on a long-term contract basis. Based in Washington, District of Columbia, this role offers an excellent opportunity to build foundational experience in the financial services industry. The ideal candidate will contribute to compliance efforts, ensuring transactions align with regulatory standards and identifying any irregularities in financial activity.

Responsibilities:
• Investigate alerts generated by transaction monitoring systems to detect unusual patterns or potentially suspicious activities.
• Analyze transactional behaviors to assess deviations from expected norms and identify inconsistencies.
• Conduct thorough follow-ups on flagged transactions and perform due diligence to determine legitimacy.
• Prepare detailed documentation of findings for review by senior compliance personnel or regulatory authorities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information for customer due diligence and enhanced due diligence processes.
• Stay informed about relevant financial regulations and apply them effectively in daily operations.
• Participate in training sessions to remain updated on evolving regulatory standards and best practices.
• Work alongside the technology team to optimize transaction monitoring systems for better performance.• Proficiency in accounting software systems and functions.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and data manipulation.
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills for analyzing financial data and resolving discrepancies.
• Familiarity with banking software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with high-volume numeric and computer-based data entry.
• Ability to perform accurate and efficient data entry tasks.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
