5. Provide guidance, direction, and support to orchard staff to ensure efficient and safe operations.
6. Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
7. Plan and coordinate orchard planting, harvesting, and crop rotation schedules to maximize yield and optimize resource utilization.
8. Manage pecan tree propagation, nursery operations, and transplanting activities as needed.
9. Monitor pecan development, maturity, and ripening stages, and coordinate harvest timing and methods for optimal fruit quality.
10. Implement irrigation systems and water management practices to ensure adequate moisture levels for tree growth and fruit production.
11. Monitor soil moisture, irrigation schedules, and water usage to prevent drought stress and optimize water efficiency.
12. Maintain irrigation infrastructure, including pumps, pipelines, and sprinkler systems, and troubleshoot any issues or malfunctions.
13. Implement integrated pest management (IPM) programs to monitor, prevent, and control pests and diseases affecting pecan trees.
14. Scout orchards for signs of pest infestation, disease symptoms, or other crop health issues, and take appropriate action to mitigate risks.
15. Apply pesticides, fungicides, and other control measures following safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
16. Ensure proper maintenance and operation of orchard equipment, machinery, and vehicles, including tractors, sprayers, and harvesters.
17. Schedule preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
18. Train orchard staff on safe equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safety precautions.
19. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and environmental regulations applicable to orchard operations.
