The Desert Highlands Association is currently interviewing candidates for Assistant Golf Professional to join their talented and fun Golf Team! These positions are seasonal and we are looking for candidates who are available to work thru our busier season. This position is Full-Time/Seasonal from Mid-October 2024-Early May 2025. ending late April 2025.

Primary Purpose: The Seasonal Assistant Golf Professional duties will include but are not limited to: Day to Day operations of the golf shop and outside operations, assist in the preparation and running of weekly Men's and Ladies Day events, assist with inventory management, displays and organization of golf shop merchandise and assist with tournament operations including tournament software, rules and information. The ideal candidate possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills; with the ability to interact with members, guests, and staff on all levels in a professional demeanor. The ability to work as a team player is crucial.

Essential Functions:

Golf Shop Operations

  • Full knowledge of all opening and closeout procedures of the golf shop
  • Assist in managing the day of play tee sheet
  • Communicate with outside services, starter, directional and player assistant of all changes
  • Assist membership in booking tee times through Club Essential
  • Stay updated and current on all upcoming events scheduled throughout the year
  • Manage the first tee when starting
  • Manage the golf course for the enjoyment of all by monitoring pace of play and providing enhanced service on course
  • Assist in the management of golf shop supplies
  • Maintain and stock inventory of daily operation supplies for the golf shop including; gloves, golf balls, scorecards, tees, pencils, ball marks, etc.

Retail Operations

  • Work with the Buyer in maintaining a neat and organized floor area.
  • Assist in special ordering and shipment receiving on a daily basis
  • Assist with monthly inventory of all merchandise

Tournament Operations

  • Assist and become knowledgeable in all aspects of set-up operations including; scoreboards, headers, proximities, staging area set-up and billing.
  • Utilize Golf Genius tournament software to manage all league play and events

Club Repair

  • Maintain and inventory all stock items necessary for in-house club repair work including; grips, tape, and fluids.
  • Document and keep accurate records of all in house and out of house club repair work.
  • Keep club repair area neat, clean and organized at all times.

Miscellaneous Duties

  • Maintain playing ability and work to stay competent in all areas of your golf game.
  • Join members on the course during a casual game of golf or in a men's/ladies day event.
  • Instruct members on all aspects of the game of golf
  • Be prepared to fill in at all times in any capacity within the golf operations.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment, with continual emphasis on promoting employee health and safety. Assists in training colleagues in proper safety techniques.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications and Skills

PGA Member or Associate applicants only!

Experience Required

1-2 years as an Assistant at a high-end private club is preferred

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of typical golf course
  • Age 19, valid Driver's License with a clean Motor Vehicle (3 years)
  • Ability to physically lift and carry golf balls and range ball
  • Ability to operate golf
  • Present a positive, professional
  • Must be self-motivated and customer service
  • Strong interpersonal and communication
  • Reliable and predictable
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing

Salary: $17.00 - $25.50 Per Hour

Total Anticipated Compensation Up To: $25.50 per hour
